Oppel & Goldberg represents oil and gas clients in all phases of mineral exploration and development. Our attorneys are seasoned in the acquisition of mineral properties, preparing joint operating and partnership agreements for multi-party exploration transactions, and handling drilling and production contracts. Going back to the 1980s, we have litigated take-or-pay contracts, and handled bankruptcy proceedings involving oil and gas properties on behalf of large operators, lenders, and other parties.

Land, Title, and Joint Operations. Our attorneys often coordinate the activities of abstracters, landmen and lease brokers in securing the rights to mineral property. Our services include the rendering of title opinions for exploration companies contracting with mineral rights owners. In the course of title examination, we draft curative documents or secure missing instruments. We institute probate proceedings, and negotiate with estate representatives to clarify or settle title. Our attorneys are also experienced in drafting and reviewing joint operating agreements. We help our clients pool capital and spread risk with the formation of partnerships, limited partnerships, limited liability companies and other entities.

Energy Lending. Our attorneys have represented both lenders and borrowers in financing the acquisition, development and disposition or sale of producing properties, establishing lines of credit to finance pipeline, drilling rig and production equipment. We are experienced in mezzanine financing, production payment financing, leveraged lease transactions and execution of energy related mortgages and other security devices.
